Which one is right for you?

Choose Platform-Managed if you…

  • ✅ Want fewer popups and less wallet setup
  • ✅ Don’t want to manage a seed phrase yet
  • ✅ Prefer in-app balances and classic deposit/withdraw

Choose Self-Custody if you…

  • ✅ Already use MetaMask (or similar)
  • ✅ Want rewards/payouts in your wallet
  • ✅ Accept that you approve fees and protect backups

There’s no “smarter” choice — only the better fit for you.

Can you switch later?

Yes — with safety rules:

Direction Typical requirements
Managed → Self-Custody Clear managed balances; no blocking pending items; SC (Self-Custody) feature enabled
Self-Custody → Managed Allowed for users who need a simpler mode again (rules may still apply)
Any switch after the first Cooldown between changes (default 24 hours, configurable)

When you switch to self-custody, the platform turns off auto-renewals that depended on managed spending (subscriptions, boosts, banners, etc.).

FAQ

1. Can I use both modes at the same time?
No. Your account has one wallet mode at a time.

2. If I switch to self-custody, do my old managed tokens move automatically?
No. You must withdraw/transfer managed balances before switching. SC (Self-Custody) doesn’t “take over” the ledger.

3. Are fees different between modes?
Product fees (prices in PIF/USD) are the same idea. How you pay differs (ledger debit vs MetaMask). You also pay network gas in SC for your txs.

4. Can I try self-custody and go back?
Yes, subject to cooldown and platform rules. Read Wallet Modes before switching.
