White Paper Business Vignette #2
Hosted Child Care Homes
This is a similar concept to the first White Paper Business Vignette I’ve posted. Except, in this business vignette, current homeowners can work with licensed childcare providers to partner to allow these childcare providers to provide childcare out of the homeowner’s home during work days.
This is a win-win situation as the homeowner’s home would sit empty during the workday, as the homeowner is away at work, if not for the childcare provider partnership providing childcare out of the home during these hours. The childcare provider then pays the homeowner either a set percentage of revenue per month or a set amount per month.
So, this could look like Jane, a licensed childcare provider, offering childcare out of Tom’s home. Tom and Jane agree to legal documents which spell out the use of the home, and or if anything breaks in the home, and any insurance implications of running childcare out of the home. Jane advertises her childcare and fills all of the childcare spots for providing this childcare. Then, at the end of the month, Jane pays Tom the agreed upon $300 per month for the service. While Jane keeps the rest of her profits as her own business.
This model helps because there are multiple childcare providers who are trained to provide childcare, but may not have a home where they can actually provide that childcare. We see this come up often for individuals living in apartments or rental homes where they wouldn’t be allowed to run the childcare that they are trained to offer. This Hosted Childcare Home model now allows them to operate the childcare that they would love to do, and, it provides local homeowners with more passive income. A true win-win!
Wow, this is another incredible idea 💡
Imagination is the seed of all things, and every great idea begins with it! 🤝
Also, if you are interested in this idea in Minnesota, it falls under a special childcare licensing, which falls under family, childcare licensing. This is a unique subset of family, childcare licensing in Minnesota. So, if you move forward with this idea, you would both need to reach out to your county licenser and, they are you would most likely need to reach out to the Minnesota Department of Human Services or DCYF. Further, it would be prudent to seek legal advice for this endeavor.
I fully accept that I made the tragic “error” in spelling childcare as most of society spells it instead of the correct way in the United States, which is actually “child care”. Please forgive me. 😂
